Let’s Talk Impeachment …

Filosofa's Word

Impeachment: a word that is on everybody’s minds these days, both Republican and Democrat.

“Whispers about impeachment, the most familiar constitutional procedure for removing a president, began to circulate even before Trump had taken the oath of office. But two months into Trump’s presidency, those whispers – and the search for any other possible emergency exit – have grown into an open conversation …” – The Guardian, 22 March 2017

Dan Rather on the Trump-Russian connections: “We may look back and see, in the end, that it is at least as big as Watergate. It may become the measure by which all future scandals are judged. It has all the necessary ingredients, and that is chilling.”

nixon-resignsOn August 9, 1974, President Richard M. Nixon became the only U.S. president to resign from office, in the wake of the Watergate scandal.  After two years of investigations and scandal, it was time. …

Sixty days in and everything is cluster-f*ck.  But Trump says, “Hey, it’s not my fault!”

Health Care reform effed up?  It’s Paul Ryan’s fault! (Oh yea, and the Democrats. And the Republicans.)   Just because I had no idea what was in the bill but stupidly pushed it anyway, and just because I was impatient and petulant, and just because the bill never had a chance – it’s not my fault!

Mexico won’t build the wall?  It’s Mexico’s fault!  They should have volunteered to pay for it!  Just because I never intended to even try to ask Mexico pay for it, and just because I will never build it anyway – it’s not my fault!

Fouled up attack in Yemen? Blame the Generals! (oh yea, and Obama)  Just because Obama never authorized the raid because it was too risky but I impetuously authorized it anyway, and just because I am the Commander in Chief and everything that happens in the military is my responsibility – it’s not my fault!

Campaign collusion with Russia? Blame the leaks!  Just because the FBI uncovered what I was doing, and just because my NSA chief had to resign for colluding with the Russians, and just because my CIA Director had to recuse himself for colluding with the Russians, and just because I am hip deep in lies and investigations – it’s not my fault!

Tiny inauguration crowd? Blame the media! (“alternative facts” haha I love it)  Just because there is irrefutable proof that my crowd was tiny and about half the size of the crowd that protested me the next day – it’s not my fault!  In fact, it never happened!

Immigration ban ruled unconstitutional? Blame the judges!  Just because it was a unanimous decision that it was based on religion and nothing else, and just because I promised I would institute a ban on Muslims, and just because there was no reason for it – it’s not my fault!

Lost the popular vote by 3 million votes? Blame illegal immigrants! Just because I have zero evidence of that and am completely ridiculed by everyone for saying it, it’s not my fault!  In fact it didn’t happen!

In fact…. it’s all YOUR fault!

trump finger

….for being stupid enough to elect me in the first place!!  I WIN AGAIN!

Tears of Sorrow …

Filosofa's Word

Yesterday afternoon at approximately 2:40 p.m. London time, a man driving a sport utility vehicle crushed panicked pedestrians on Westminster Bridge and then stabbed and killed a police officer outside Parliament. These are the facts that are verified as of this writing: At least five people were killed, including the attacker and a police officer, and 40 were wounded, according to the head of London’s Metropolitan Police counterterrorism unit. After the crash, the driver left the vehicle and approached Parliament, where he fatally stabbed a police officer. The police then fatally shot him. Parliament was locked down and a search was conducted for any other assailants in the area. The police said they believed there was only one attacker. Three people who were run over on the bridge died, and the Port of London Authority said another woman was pulled from the River Thames with severe injuries. The police officer…

Get Rid of Trump’s Enablers in Congress

We must face the sad, harsh truth – we have a President who is a liar. There is simply no other word for it.

I don’t use that term lightly. Show me a politician who has kept every promise made or never exaggerated and I’ll dance on a tabletop naked.

But this is different. This is a man who tells bald-faced, completely obvious lies as often as his mouth opens. And that is dangerous for the country.

But this is not the worst part. The worst part, the very disheartening part, is that we have a large segment of the population – and nearly every single republican in Congress – that finds his continual lying acceptable. We have to get this Congress out of the hands of these enablers.

The campaigns for the House of Representatives are STARTING NOW. Find out if your representative is an enabler, and if so, GET THEM OUT.

My Congresswoman, Barbara Comstock – is the prototypical enabler. I will be working very hard to get her out of office and to get someone else in, whether they be Republican or Democrat – as long as he or she has the integrity to publicly object to Trump’s continual lying and immoral behavior.

The Russians are not coming. They are already here.

I know some of you may be weary of the drip drip drip of political posts from your friendly neighborhood Middle Man. But this business with the Russians is deeply concerning and goes beyond politics for me.  I have made a few simple observations and asked a few reasonable, serious questions that deserve answers and quickly.

1.) The Russians have been confirmed to have interfered in our election for the benefit of Trump. There is no evidence that this interference affected the outcome of the election, but that is beside the point.  They wanted Trump.  Why?  This is not new for Putin and Russia. They have done this before in other European countries, always with the intent to have a candidate elected who is sympathetic to Putin’s agenda, which is to strengthen Russia’s global influence.  Does anyone really believe Russia did not attempt the same thing here?

2.) There are a lot of Trump people who had a lot of contact with Russia, far more than than they had with any other country. Why?  Maybe for a good reason. But let’s have it then – what was the reason?  That question of legality is important, but for me, the question of legality is secondary to the question of purpose.

3.) Then there are a lot of Trump associates who communicated with Russians and who lied about it or didn’t mention it until caught.  Manafort.  Flynn.  Kushner.  Sessions.  Why lie, or why not mention it, especially during confirmation hearings under oath?

4.) Trump continues to refuse to release his tax returns. Why?

5.) A British spy developed a dossier which outlines blackmail on Trump by the Russians. It now appears the FBI were paying him.  Where is he now?

6.) Flynn has resigned/been fired, and Sessions has been forced to recuse himself from the Russia probe.  There may be perfectly logical explanations for all of this – but the explanations have not been provided.  It stinks like rotten caviar.  Does anyone really think Americans shouldn’t be concerned, that we shouldn’t be demanding answers?

Proud Trump Supporter

Something is weighing on my mind and I need to get it out in the open.  I’m tired of hiding who I am.  I am a proud Trump supporter.  Probably surprised right?  Well you shouldn’t be.  The list of reasons is huge.
He is a climate change denier, and we need more of that, that bold, spitting-in-the face of so-called “science”.   Melting polar ice caps, rising oceans and pollution and blah blah blah.  It’s all just leftist propaganda.   Don’t care for warming oceans…. really?  How quickly we forget those icy cold-water beach days at Nags Head.  We have to get that oil and coal out of the ground and if we can get warmer water temps during beach week all the better.  Win-Win.  Winning so much.  Anyway I’ll be long dead when all the oil and coal is gone so you can take your ‘renewables’ and shove them where the sun don’t shine.  Now, if we can just get rid of those nauseating regulations that supposedly keep miners and the environment safe.  Enough!!
He lashes out and lies whenever his ego is hurt.  Which is his way of saying, don’t fuck with me, man.  Who likes a wussy for  President?   Not me.
His policies that target Muslims were obviously put there to protect white folk and Christianity, and I was told that this is completely legal and constitutional and whatever, so it’s all good, yo.  If it pisses off an entire religion, that’s their problem.  I say bring it on.  Yo terrorists:  I have a loaded Glock near my bed at all times.  I said yo twice, which means I’m feeling pretty cocky right now.
He is a foul-mouthed womanizer.  Uh, hit me up on PM on this one.  (The wifey may read this and we haven’t been sleeping in the same bed lately)
Guilty of fraud.  Not technically guilty, he settled for $25 million out of court.  But the fraud part was right,  point being you can’t make an omelette without breaking a few eggs.  But I’m rambling and you’re missing the big picture here.  Isn’t it obvious he is the education President?   You leftist communists just want to complain about everything all the time, even when it is good for you.  Gah!
He has not shown his tax returns.  Never been a successful businessman I know of that shows his personal finances.  That’s a big nunya business.  Do you show me your returns?  No, I thought not.  BOOM.  Did I say businessman?  I meant President.
He has no morals that I can see, but maybe he has them hidden somewhere, anyway that’s not important.  Besides, having no morals just frees him up to do whatever he wants, and I expect all of us would want our President unhindered.  Anyway he did go to church a couple of times, so he’s got that going for him, which is nice.
Was aided by America’s #1 foreign adversary in the election, proving once again that he is the most admired President in the world.
His conflicts of interest with his businesses abound at unseen levels –  uh, I probably chose the wrong words there – it’s not really a conflict of interest if it’s all in his interest, eh?  So I expect him to do very well personally, and I expect a few of those dollars will roll on down to me somehow.  Do I care if the Ukraine is annexed?  That’s another big nunya business.  Just show me a few extra $.  What’s the saying?  Let it rain golden showers.
A pathological liar with complete disregard for facts and the truth.  Paging Captain Obvious on this one.  Sometimes people need to be lied to… a lot.
Undermines the foundation of democracy by claiming voter fraud when none exists.  A basic business model. If you are going to take over a company, the best way to do it is to trash it completely, including the foundation, and build fresh.  Didn’t you ever see the original ‘Wall Street’ with Michael Douglas?
Selected a homophobic Vice President.  Finally.  And just the right man for it, too.  We have to discourage homosexualness from happening in the first place,  and I think we can all agree that Pence will discourage any man from choosing to become homosexual.    As for those who have already chosen, how can they possibly get better if they aren’t forced into rehabilitation centers?
Installed as his #1 advisor on the National Security Council a person with strong ties to white supremacy, anti-antisemitism and neo-nazis.  Now we’re talking baby.
It feels good to say it…. Proud, proud, proud!!
Of course the big, exciting reason I am a Trump supporter is that he is going to MAKE ME RICH!  All the other stuff is fairly meaningless, low priority at best.  Look, if someone like Trump can get rich, so can anyone.  Wait, I didn’t mean that the way it sounded.  I just meant that, well..  all you need is a few million dollars from Dad…- strike that.  Starting over.   If you know how to run a business, that is, if you know how to go bankrupt and not pay taxes…. crap.  Look – he’s rich, so let’s just drop it ok???  Leave me alone.

The Final Word? Well, that Depends.

Dear readers,

In these days of “the endless Presidential campaign season of 2016”, we are all weary.  We are weary of the news, weary of the partisan bickering, weary of arguments and insults and anger and mud.  We just want it to end, and we want to go about our lives again.  It does seem to be the one thing we can agree on.

But there is one last thing I have to do if I ever want to look at myself in the mirror again.

I am writing this letter with one last, impassioned message:   We must not allow Trump to reach the White House.  We must not.

This message is not about who I want as President.  This is about the safety of our country and the preservation of our democracy. And this is a far more important matter to me than the usual partisan politics.  I have to be able to look at myself in the mirror on Nov 9 and say I did everything I could.

Trump has demonstrated without question that he is dangerously unstable and untruthful, egomaniacal, womanizing, bullying, power hungry and corrupt.  He is an easily manipulated man whom I am convinced might actually launch nuclear weapons in a fit of pique at 3:30am one morning, among many other extremely alarming actions.

The danger is very real and very serious, and I do not believe this to be hyperbole. During the course of his campaign, Trump has demonstrated that in the event of his defeat he would attempt to destroy our democracy, simply out of spite.  I am asking you to join forces to keep Trump out of the White House, for the sake of our country.

I am aware that, to many of you, this probably sounds like another commercial for Hillary Clinton, particularly to those of you who follow me on Facebook.  Let me assure you, it is not that.  And I know that many of you, my friends and readers, are not Clinton supporters. I am not here to try to make a case for Clinton, and this is not a request to vote for Clinton.  I am here to ask you to take the necessary steps to defeat Trump.

Conservative, Libertarian, Green, Independent, Liberal, Republican, Democrat, undecided friends:  There are many candidates who just ran in the last primaries who would be capable Presidents – and they will have an excellent chance to do just that in four short years.  I may work to defeat them simply on the issues, but I believe all of them would be capable nonetheless, and they would work to keep our country safe and to preserve our democracy.

I hope to never have to write a letter like this one again.   But I hope to be able to write a letter like this one again.

Oh, Hello There, Angry Trump Fan in the Comments!

Oh, Hello There, Angry Trump Fan in the Comments!

Hello! It’s good to see you again, Irate Trump Fan yelling at the “sheeple” in the comments of your ex-coworker’s or second cousin’s post about how they actually like Hillary Clinton. You sure are showing everyone…something! I created this post because everyone is exhausted by your bullshit and no one has the time to write out long responses to your regurgitations from Breitbart and InfoWars, and if they did that would only mean talking to you more and that sounds awful. So, here are some answers to the garbage storm shooting out of your typing fingers.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #1: The Clinton Foundation is a sham, designed to enrich the Clintons.

The idea that the Clinton Foundation is an evil enterprise is 100% true if you are Malaria. Then you are correct, it is out to get you. Let’s start with the lie that only 6% of the Clinton Foundation’s budget goes to actual charities. Only 6% goes to other charities, while the Foundation does most of its own work. They have done great work across the world with health care, reforestation, education, and hope to one day MURDER JAMES BOND. Crap, I blew at the end, didn’t I?

Here is an article from FactCheck.org on that subject. You can also check CharityWatch, GuideStar, and Charity Navigator which all give the Clinton Foundation top ratings.

There is another myth that the Clintons have pocketed eleventy billion dollars from the Foundation because they spend all their own money on claw machines in arcades even though they’ve never once gotten a prize, but several times they really thought the claw had the stuffed bear in its grasp.

Hillary, Bill, and Chelsea make $0 from the Clinton Foundation. Here isPolitifact’s analysis.

Then there are the charges of conflicts of interest. You’re probably yelling about uranium right now, so we should talk about uranium. The story is that Hillary Clinton took $145 million for the Foundation and in return allowed Russia to buy a company which has control over a significant amount of uranium. This story is bunk. One might say this story came straight out of uranus (DAD JOKE!).

You can read Politifact’s long breakdown, but the short version is a) 9 government agencies signed off on the deal and b) there’s no evidence that Clinton intervened at all in the deal.

There are also allegations that the Clintons allowed donors special access to Clinton when she was Secretary of State, but the smoking guns here are basically that she met with a Nobel Prize winning economist and Elie Weisel. (Washington Post).

Hillary Clinton has admitted they could have done a better job of keeping the Foundation better separated from her work. I personally have never run a charity that provide access to AIDS medications to 11.5 million people or lowered the cost of Malaria medication by 80-90% in several countries, but apparently it’s tricky. So, yes, we can criticize Hillary and Bill for not being diligent enough in eliminating any possible hint of impropriety while working to combat heroin addiction and providing healthier food to students in the United States.

But no, they did not pocket money or sell uranium to Lex Luthor.

Did you know Donald Trump has a foundation? He has illegally used the money from it to settle legal disputes, bribe Florida’s attorney general, purchase a painting of himself, and buy a helmet signed by Tim Tebow.  He has not contributed any of his own money since 2008.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #2: HILLARY DID BENGHAZI!

No, Hillary Clinton did not refuse to send support to Benghazi and no one was told to stand down instead of defending the embassy (except in the Michael Bay movie). And no one slept through Benghazi (except in the Michael Bay movie).

Media Matters has a full breakdown of all the myths and facts about Benghzai.

Most likely the controversy over Benghazi comes from the fact that it was the first US embassy attack in the history of the United States in an alternate universe because there were 13 attacks that killed 60 people during the Bush administration alone. This Politifact article actually breaks that number down a bit and shows it goes up if you count attacks on embassy employees outside the compound.

Four people died in Benghazi and it would be thoughtless to say that nothing can be learned from the tragedy and everything was done exactly as it should have been. The same is true of 9/11 under George W Bush, the USS Cole bombing under Bill Clinton, the death of hundreds of marines in Lebanon under Reagan, back to the British torching Washington, D.C. My point is that we used to all hate the British and we all worked together against them and I want to go back to that uniting, Brit-hating spirit.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #3: Donald Trump gets attacked for what he says about women, but nobody calls out Bill Clinton.

Here is a handy link to the answer to that question.

After you click that, go look at yourself in the mirror. Yeah, that’s a scumbag who blames women for their husbands’ infidelities. Pretty disgusting, right? Like you wanna look away and go get ice cream, but you don’t deserve ice cream.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #4: Hillary wants open borders, but Trump is going to build a wall. A Wonder Wall that Oasis could only have dreamed of.

Hillary Clinton does not support open borders.

And Trump’s Wall? The worst idea to come out of Game of Thrones since your high school friend named her daughter Hodor? What is the goal here? More immigrants are going back to Mexico than coming in. More undocumented immigrants are entering the United States legally and then overstaying their visas than crossing the border. Why am I talking about a wall that is never going to be built? People get really emotional about this wall likes it’s their dad finally being proud of them. “OH, IT’S GONNA HAPPEN!”

Angry Trump Fan Claim #5: Hillary Clinton led us into war in Iraq and Donald Trump was against it.

It is now well known that Howard Stern asked Donald Trump in September 2002 if he was for invading Iraq and he said “Yeah, I guess so.” Now Fox News has released a clip of him talking to Neil Cavuto which they say proves he was against it. The quote that supposedly closes this case: “Well, he has either got to do something, or not do something.” Strong words for a leader. TRUMP 2016: HE’LL DO SOMETHING OR NOT DO SOMETHING!

Clearly Trump was just talking out of his ass, something I’m sure he is almost finished doing. He didn’t know the answer, but that didn’t stop him from talking. I’m sure he remembers that he was right, because he only remembers being right. After the first debate with Clinton he denied saying something he had said just an hour before. An hour! It was like Sam from Quantum Leap entered his body and had to answer a question but had no idea what had happened immediately before.

Hillary Clinton voted to authorize President George W. Bush to use military force in Iraq. She has said he had given assurances he would use this authorization to pressure the Iraqis to allow weapons inspectors, and she believed him. There are certainly people who did not believe this. Barack Obama and Bernie Sanders both opposed the war, and so she cannot claim that no one saw the mess coming, but she certainly was not leading the charge to war.

Can I comment right here how hilarious it is what conservatives are willing to now believe since Donald Trump says it. The Iraq War was now bad! Paid family leave is good! That’s great! He also has conservatives talking about how awesome Vladimir Putin is and that is batshit insane. This strong leader garbage he has fellow Republicans spouting is ridiculous. Putin has to murder reporters and political enemies to stay in power while he is destroying Russia’s economy. It’s like if one of your friends started telling you that candy corn tastes delicious, so you started pretending to eat candy corn, but candy corn is fucking disgusting.

No, but really, Trump is indebted to Putin’s cronies and is more concerned with pleasing Putin than defending American interests. If that last statement is wrong, it could be disproven by the release of Trump’s tax return which he refuses to release. This is a man that over 40% of America is going to say “Yes, please lead us, Giant Lying Russian Stooge!” on election day.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #6: This article from InfoWars says th-

Counterpoint: Fuck you. InfoWars is not a news website. It’s a white paranoia bunker run by a nutjob who said no one died at Sandy Hook. He saw a tragedy with 26 dead, 20 of them little kids and he made it about his own ridiculous delusions. Seriously, fuck InfoWars and fuck you for giving them clicks.

And fuck Breitbart, too.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #7: Hillary should be in prison!

Nope, she was investigated by the FBI and its Republican director who found no cause to prosecute her and there is no analogous case where someone who had made a similar error was prosecuted. Please don’t try to connect it to General Petraeus who had knowingly gave out classified information. That would be embarrassing for you.

The email server: Yes a bad move, which Secretary Clinton acknowledged. Was it illegal? Nope. Rules about private emails were instituted after she left. There is no evidence that any emails contained information considered classified at the time they were sent. If you read the articles linked here, you will see that there is definitely criticism of Secretary Clinton’s use of the server, which was, in technical political terms, a real boner.

If you read down this far, Angry Trump Fan, you found somewhere I conceded she erred! Congrats!

My personal guess is that she wanted to have some communications that wouldn’t be uncovered later and people would discover that she’d said Angela Merkel had shitty taste in music and Nicolas Sarkozy wore ugly hats. This is in a sense understandable, but not acceptable. Just like how the W. Bush administration lost 22 million emails. Y’all were equally pissed about that right?

Angry Trump Fan Claim #8: Trump won the first debate! The polls say so!

Quick one: No they don’t. I’m not usually a believer in saying someone “won” a presidential debate, but when one is talking about policy and the other is farting out his mouth about how his son likes computers and maybe there are 400 pound hackers and Rosie O’Donnell and how it’s smart business to cheat people out of money and not pay taxes, then I’m willing to allow maybe Hillary Clinton won the first debate. And the real polls agree.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #9: Hillary invented Birtherism!

Nope. It’s possible that hard-core Hillary 2008ers were suggesting Obama was born in Kenya, but Clinton did not. In fact she fired an employee for sending out an email spreading that rumor.

But this is not about Hillary, this is about Trump who built himself up on racist bullshit and now is backing away from it because it’s politically expedient. It’s not just that he spread the lie and continued spreading it. He said he hadinvestigators in Hawaii and “they cannot believe what they’re finding.” I CAN’T BELIEVE IT EITHER! NO ONE BELIEVES IT!

This is another one that fills me with delight in that his supporters looooovvvve to say “He’s no bullshit. He calls them like he sees them.” And here he is making it incredibly clear that either a) he was utterly full of shit for years and is now abandoning that lie because it’s no longer politically useful or b) he totally believes it still even with no evidence, but he’s willing to pretend he doesn’t to win votes. This is your straight-shooter, 40% of America.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #10: Hillary called me deplorable!

Maybe. She said half of all Trump supporters were deplorable. I do not know the percentage of Trump supporters that are deplorable, but there are asizable chunk that are anti-black, anti-Jewish, anti-woman, and anti-anything-that’s-not-a-straight-white-Christian-male. In response to the comment, two of Trump’s advisors including his Fuckhead Son (official title) Donald, Jr. posted an image of The Deplorables, a photoshop of The Expendables poster with Trump allies’ faces placed over the stars’. Included in that are Alex Jones, Milo (a hateful race-baiting internet troll), and Pepe the Frog, a Neo-Nazi internet meme. Junior claimed he had no idea what Pepe the Frog is, but we are well past the point where this over-privileged bag of leaking feces gets to claim ignorance of white supremacist jargon and symbols.

I have no clue what is in the hearts of Donald Trump’s supporters. Paul Ryan just wants to eliminate the estate tax for people worth over $5.45 million dollars. Some people will take anyone who will at least claim they’ll appoint Supreme Court justices who will overturn Roe Vs. Wade. But a lot want to turn back the progress made by minorities, and that I find deplorable.

And listen, I’m not going to call Donald Trump a racist. At least not without a hundred pieces of evidence. Which you can find here.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #11: Hillary is a bigger liar!

This is such a weird one and it’s what I see most often. “She’s a bigger liar than Trump!” Considering pretty much every human lies, it’s impossible to say anyone isn’t a liar. I’m even not sure how you would rank who is a bigger liar. Luckily PolitiFact does and they made this.

Angry Trump Fan Claim #12: She was wearing an earpiece!

I forgot this one when I originally posted, so I’m adding it in because people still want to believe it. “Listen, Trump totally won the debate. I mean there were problems with his microphone and Lester Holt was so mean to him and Hillary had an earpiece but we’re not mistaking excuses we’re just saying!”

No, she did not wear a secret microphone, or an anti-seizure device, or a mystical amulet to animate her corpse since she obviously died decades ago. CAN’T YOU SEE CTHULHU IS BEHIND THIS!

The Florida GOP even retweeted an InfoWars link on this subject (Hey, fuck you again InfoWars!). The Florida GOP would quote a Ouija Board at this point if it told them Hillary had consumption.

Update: Angry Trump Fan Claim #13: Trump may be inexperienced, but he’ll surround himself with good people.

I’m paraphrasing a comment under my original posting of this article on Facebook, and I kinda thought it was a joke. Apparently people believe this. Can I use this moment to point out how much work people put into liking Trump? Can you imagine if they put one tenth of one percent of that effort into giving Obama a chance? People have convinced themselves that Donald Trump, a thieving, philandering con artist, is a moral, religious everyman.

Back to this idea that he’s going to surround himself with good people. Here are the people he has chosen so far:

a) Corey Lewandowski, his first campaign manager, was charged with batteryfor assaulting a female reporter. But, hey, the charge was dropped! That’s something!

b) Paul Manafort, Trump’s second campaign manager, was a former advisor for the Putin-backed Ukranian dictator and was paid in funds stolen from the state.

c) Steve Bannon: Trump’s current campaign chief changed Breitbart from a conservative news site to a home for white hate groups (Yes, I reused a link. You caught me). They have a section on the site called Black Crime.

d) Chris Christie: Not even Donald Trump believes Chris Christie, who is in charge of leading his transition team, told the truth about Bridgegate. While he’s avoided prosecution, both sides in the Bridgegate trial acknowledge he was aware, despite his constant declarations to the contrary.

e) Al Baldasaro: Oh you don’t know the co-chair of Trump’s veterans’ coalition? You might remember that he called for execution of Hillary Clinton. He continues to work for the Trump campaign.

f) Roger Fucking Ailes: Yes, Roger Ailes who harassed and extorted sex out of female employees for years, is an advisor to Donald Trump. Roger Ailes is a monstrous sexual predator and Donald Trump thinks he’s a cool guy who can hang.

No, Donald Trump is not going to surround himself with good people.

Update! Angry Trump Fan Claim #14: Hillary called all of Bernie Sanders supporters basement dwellers!

This is incorrect. She spoke empathetically of people who have been let down by the economy. That take might be biased because it comes from noted Bernie Sanders and longtime Clinton supporter Barney Fra…No, sorry that’s what Sanders himself said.

And I think we’re done. I’m glad we took this ride together and you read all the way through this and now you don’t need to keep posting false garbage in everyone’s comments. Good-bye and you’re welcome.

Oh, and if you have any other questions about everything else wrong with Donald Trump, here is a handy link.

Oh Yes, War can be a Factor in Elections.

No American president who sought another term during a time of war has been defeated. Ever. Let that sink in for a moment.

This is not an accident of history, this is a matter of human nature.

Our country has seen wars to their completion.  We have finished them, we have celebrated our victories.  The Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WW I and WW II.  Complete, unanimous decisions, complete victories.

Our country has given up on wars, too.  Korea.  Vietnam.  Iraq.  Putting aside the right or the wrong of starting those wars, the nation at some point decided that those wars were just not worth fighting anymore.   Not everyone agreed of course, but the nation as a whole decided.  Just get us out. Get it over with.  No victory celebration.  Bring our troops home.

The interesting common thread for them all, is that our country re-elected those wartime presidents, no matter how those wars started, no matter if we saw those wars to the end or whether we eventually gave up on them.   When the United States goes to war the natural, patriotic instinct is to win, to make sure our military is given every chance to win, that we give our troops every support necessary.  We must win.  It’s unpatriotic, perhaps even treasonous, to question the President, to not support the President, because that would give aid and comfort to the enemy and demoralize our troops.

And being patriotic as we are, we will keep that victorious emotion alive as long as we can. But if we eventually lose that emotion, that will to win – as we have done – when we become fatigued as a nation and we desire an end to that war, by that time those Presidential re-elections have long since been decided.  The President has long since won re-election and has served the term.  It’s up to the next President to deal with the remnants.

There are many who have wondered why the the US went to war in 2003 against Iraq when history has shown that there was absolutely no reason to do so.  What drove that intense motivation by the Bush administration to go to war, to twist intelligence, to overlook or ignore facts – particularly when Iraq posed no threat to the United States?  I submit that Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney are all learned, educated students of history. They saw that George W. Bush had lost the popular vote in 2000, they knew they needed something to gain an advantage for re-election in 2004, and they knew history.  And history, I submit, provided the answer.

This may sound partisan. Let me assure you that it is not.  This is human.  Human nature being what it is, war can influence elections.  Let’s keep that in mind the next time a President says he or she wants to take our country to war.

The Economy’s Delicious Middle

Governing dynamics, as amended by John Nash in “A Beautiful Mind” states: “The best results come from everyone in the group doing what’s best for themselves…. and what’s best for the group.”  In larger national terms, Nash’s theory argues that this type of thinking is exactly what is needed for a healthy economy and a successful society.  But is this theory true, and perhaps more importantly, is this theory even possible?

It is this very question that has created one of the biggest political divides in the United States.

Progressives on the farther edge of the left tend to believe that pure capitalism will result in wealth which will not reach society sufficiently, that not everyone in society is able to participate in capitalism and achieve equally, and that pure, unchecked capitalism will result in an unsustainable income gap. Therefore taxes must be adjusted and income rates and wages must be dictated by the government in order to avoid income inequality and an unhealthy economy and society.

Conservatives on the farther edge of the right believe that government should stay entirely out of the way and allow businesses and individuals to achieve and accrue wealth without interference; that this wealth achieved by the most successful elements of society will eventually reach everyone.  The wealth will in fact, “trickle down”. Therefore wages should not be touched by government interference, and that individuals and businesses should be taxed evenly across the board in order to create a healthy society.

I believe most of us reside in the middle.  We in the middle believe that capitalism and individual achievement are good and healthy things.  We in the middle also believe that, left unchecked, the amount of wealth and success that reaches everyone will not be sufficient to allow for adequate individual success and a healthy society.  We therefore believe that it is necessary for a careful government to put into place reasonable and rational mechanisms which will gently and, to the greatest extent possible, fairly, insure that income equality does not become dangerous and unsustainable.

Please note the words in italics:  Careful.  Reasonable.  Rational.  Gently.  Fairly.  I put these words into italics to emphasize how difficult it is to match the goal of individual achievement with the goal of achieving a healthy society.  Too much government interference will suffocate individual excellence.  Too little government will create unrest and revolt.  In our first 240 years of national existence, we have managed to maintain this balancing act very well.  But lately the balance appears to be in jeopardy.  The voices on the edge have become louder.  The middle is being drowned out.  How can we insure a reasonable, rational, careful government mechanism that will allow us to maintain this amazing balancing act?

I think first, it is crucial that we all turn down the volume of the political discourse – not silence it – but turn it down.  The far left and right always tend to be the most energetic, and social media has acted like a monster set of amps and speakers to boost the volume of the most politically energetic among us.  Turning down the volume will help us to listen to our fellow citizens in the quiet middle.  The political middle has always been far more likely to be willing to communicate with each other, to collaborate and to reach healthy compromise.

As a nation, we need the far left and the far right – but the middle is where we take a little of this, a little of that, and where we make a delicious goodness.
